Discussion
This was a spit across the remaining hillwash deposit in the western central
part of the area, to define any surviving features. It helped to define
the south-eastern part of a turf-filled depression (012AC09503),
as well as the western half of post hole structure 012AC09504.
The material removed was generally a sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3).
Finds include a mixture of Roman, Anglian and Medieval sherds. Quite a
high density of animal bone was found, predominantly situated over the
depression 012AC09503.
